Art Center Accepting Nominations for
2nd Annual Achievement Awards
The Guilford Art Center is accepting nominations for the Second Annual Art Achievement Awards. The awards recognize individuals for their contributions to the community through art. Deadline for nominations is April 27th.
The Art Achievement Award will recognize individuals or groups who work with art as a means to better the community. Nominees may work in any medium, in categories including Health, Education, and the Environment. Award Recipients will be honored at special reception at The Guilford Art Center's Mill Gallery on Friday, June 8th and publicly recognized at the "Once in a Blue Moon Gala" on June 30th.
The 2006 Award winners were: Molly McDonald, an avid painter and an art teacher in the Guilford School System for 28 years; Joy Wulke, founder of "Projects for a New Millennium," which creates collaborative events fusing art and science as a means of discovery and appreciation in the natural world; Susan Rosano, who teaches art as a tool to help children with learning disabilities and special needs, giving them a chance to gain expression and confidence; and Robert (Woody) Wilkins, founder and program director of healthcare education programs that serve chronically and critically ill children and their siblings, including his "Dances with Wood" project, which brings wooden craft projects to the bedside.
