Guilford Art Center announces a springtime benefit evening on campus filled with pleasure for all of the senses: "Create2010," on Saturday May 15th, 6:30-11pm.
Guests are invited to savor locally-sourced cuisine prepared by Dinners at the Farm Chef Jonathan Rapp. He and his team will be preparing sumptuous, seasonal dishes on-site, from their signature, cherry-red cook truck. The evening will also feature a tasteful selection of wines, local beer, and signature cocktails, served in take-home drinking cups created by the Art Center's ceramics apprentices. Music is by local honky-tonk cult favorite the Forgotten Ones.
The Center's Mill Gallery will feature the group exhibit Sprezzatura, including contemporary works by artists both local and from around the country that exemplify the notion of a well-practiced naturalness. Throughout the evening, guests are invited to experience the gallery show, demonstrations by local artists, and a silent auction filled with art and other splurge-worthy treats.
Dinners at the Farm is the brainchild of Rapp, chef/owner of River Tavern Restaurant in Chester, who in 2007 began hosting a series of benefit farm dinners on local farms helping to recreate a sense of connection to farming, cooking and eating and the wholesome abundant foods local farms provide. The organization has made a significant contribution to celebrating and promoting Connecticut Grown products, and has supported many local nonprofit organizations. For this event, proceeds will benefit Guilford Art Center, specifically campus and facilities improvements that will enhance the types and quality of classes offered to the public.
Dress for "Create2010" is casual. Don't miss this unique experience and this opportunity to support the arts in your local community. Tickets are $125 per person.
