Demonstrations, Artist Visits and More at the Shop at Guilford Art Center
The Guilford Art Center is launching a series of events designed to complement the latest merchandise in its newly redone Shop of handmade crafts. Demonstrations, book signings and trunk shows are among the highlights of this ongoing roster of events in the Shop.
Teach Yourself Visually Drawing- Book Signing, Saturday, May 31, 11am-12:30pm. Authors Dean Fisher and Josephine Robinson will demonstrate their method of teaching drawing, taking into account shape, light, shadow and perspective, and sign copies of their book. The authors are instructors at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center, New Canaan.
A Toast to Tea, Saturday, June 7, 1-3pm. Tina Osborn of Tea Forte will demonstrate how to brew the freshest ice tea with Tea Forte's handcrafted, whole-leaf teas and accessories.
Jewelry Trunk Show with Monica Georgeo/Murano Pearl Jewelry, Tuesday, June 17, 1-4 pm. Jewelry maker Monica Georgeo of Guilford makes exquisite necklaces, bracelets and earrings from her handmade lampworked glass beads. She will exhibit her entire collection of Venetian glass jewelry.
Illustrating Children’s Books, Wednesday, June 25, 12:30-2:00pm. Meet Jamison Odone, author/illustrator of the children’s book "Honey Badgers." Mr. Odone, who has studied with Maurice Sendak, will sign copies of his book in the Guilford Art Shop. Books will be available for purchase.
Presentation from the Chelsea Flower Show in London, Wednesday, July 2, 5:30-7pm. Guilford Art Center board member Lucy VanLiew will have recently returned from London, and will offer a powerpoint presentation about the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, including the latest gardening trends & tips. Cocktails will be served.
Jewelry Trunk Show with Deb Kouzoukian, Wednesday, July 9, 1-4 pm. Jewelry artist Deb Kouzoukian will present a trunk show of her latest work, "the Loose Pearl collection," and talk about her inspiration.
