GUILFORD ART CENTER is pleased to announce that it now has a page on Facebook! It provides another great way to get word out about the great programs and events we have here at the Center.

Facebook is a free-access social networking website through which users can connect and interact with other people. Users can add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Facebook now has more than 200 million active users worldwide.

Suzanne Hens-Kaplan (Finance Manager, who also manages the website) thought the Center should start a Facebook page as yet another way to get word out about it's program and activities, and to reach the increasingly large number of people who use Facebook to keep in touch with others, let others know about what they are up to and what they're interested in.

Bonita Roggow (Special Events Coordinator) utilized Facebook, for example, for the recent event "Eat, Drink & Be Pretty." For this fantastic fashion show, some of the Center's supporters performed as volunteer fashion models. So in addition to the event appearing on our page, some of the models listed it on their Facebook pages. That way, people not directly connected to the Center, but connected to the models, could find out about our event.

Maureen Belden (Program Administrator) feels Facebook is a great way to use viral-marketing to talk ourselves up, in our local community and beyond. Because so much of what we do is aimed at connecting with community members, to make sure they know about the range of programs and opportunities we offer, keeping a presence on Facebook helps us both widen our circle of friends and benefit from their help in spreading the word.
