Support Local Artists at our Pop-Up Shopping Events
Warm weather means it’s time for Artist Pop-Up events at GAC! We began these events last year as a way to support local artists who faced cancellation of all their craft shows. It was so popular, that we’ve decided to continue the events in 2022 (even though craft shows are back, including our own Craft Expo on July 15-17!).
The first Pop-Up event is Saturday, May 7 from 10am-4pm at GAC. Artists include Amy DeLorenzo/Jewelry, Barbara Hernandez/Painting, Trevor Youngberg/Ceramics and Gabriela Margarita (Bright Raven Studio)/Ceramics. Come support these artists and find beautiful items for yourself or to give to others!
Follow announcements and artist info on the Facebook Event page.
Seeking Teen Volunteers for GAC’s Summer Youth Program
If you are 14 years or older, we invite you to volunteer with GAC’s summer youth program. The program runs for 9 weeks, June 20-August 19. Assistance is needed helping instructors and students with projects in the classroom, supervising an outdoor break, and more. Volunteers are requested to commit to a week of classes at a time in the morning (9am-12pm) or afternoon (1-4pm). GAC is happy to verify community service hours for this work. If interested, please contact Kate Klein, Summer Youth Program Coordinator: email@example.com.
Call for Artists Due Friday 4/29
The submission deadline for GAC‘s Biennial Ceramics Exhibition is this Friday! This exhibition is open to all works which use clay as the primary medium, both utilitarian and sculptural. The exhibition will present the variety of ways contemporary ceramics furthers craft traditions, explores innovative approaches, and serves as a medium for creating compelling new art works. It is juried by esteemed ceramicist, David R. McDonald.
Last Week for the GAC Student Exhibition
Make sure you get to the gallery by the Sunday to see the GAC Student Exhibition. It’s a fantastic array of work in a range of mediums. You’ll be inspired by the creativity and spirit of our students. And perhaps moved to take a class this summer? The gallery is open 7 days a week, free admission. Mon-Sat, 10am-4pm, Sun 12-4pm.
THE SHOP AT GAC
The hanging pods, above, by Jennifer Lee Studios were made by hand using speckled stoneware then dipped in glaze inside and out giving them the two tone effect. They have a piece of driftwood to give it a special touch. Holes were added on top and jute with a loop at the top for easy hanging. Approximately 5″ across and 3 1/2″ deep. $26 each.
The Shop is open 7 days a week. All GAC members receive 10% off all purchases year-round. Open Monday – Saturday, 10am-4pm, Sunday 12-4pm.
