Ceramics Biennial 2022: A National Juried Exhibition Comes to Guilford Art Center

Guilford Art Center is pleased to announce its newest gallery exhibition, entitled Ceramics Biennial 2022: A National Juried Exhibition, from June 17 – July 31 in the gallery at Guilford Art Center.

This exhibition presents contemporary works in clay, both functional and non-functional by American artists from across the nation. It represents a fascinating overview of the variety of ways ceramic artists further craft traditions, explore innovative approaches, and utilize this ancient medium for creating compelling new works.

Ceramics Biennial 2022 is juried by renowned ceramic artist David R. MacDonald, whose work is in the permanent collections of The Studio Museum in Harlem, the Montclair Art Museum, New Jersey, and the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse. MacDonald has selected works by artists in a range of styles and approaches. Works on view includes functional ware, sculptural objects and conceptual works.

”It’s fantastic to work with David MacDonald to present this national overview of ceramic practice today,” says Guilford Art Center Executive Director Maureen Belden. “GAC has long been a stronghold of ceramics instruction, and MacDonald’s diverse and vibrant selection represents powerful examples of contemporary art in clay from across the nation.”

Entrance to the gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm and Sunday 12-4pm.
