Support Funding for the Arts in CT

Calling all supporters of the arts and GAC! Here is an opportunity to make your voice heard on an important bill in the Connecticut General Assembly (HB 6119) sponsored by State Rep. John-Michael Parker (101st District). This bill will strengthen the arts, culture, and tourism sector in Connecticut by directing additional funds into the Tourism Fund, renaming the fund to better represent the full scope of the sector and ensuring equitable funding among arts, culture, and tourism initiatives.
  • To learn more about the bill, click here.
  • Here’s how to share your testimony at this week’s Public Hearing, taking place Thursday 2/11 at 10 AM.
  • Email written testimony (reference HB 6119) to cetestimony@cga.ct.gov
  • The CT Arts Alliance has a great guide on how to submit effective testimony. In short, be authentic!
  • Register to testify live, via Zoom, by Wednesday 2/10 at 3 PM.
  • Last but not least, please reach out to your legislators to tell them why the arts, culture, and tourism sector is important to you, and ask them to co-sponsor this legislation.

Faculty Exhibition Opens this Friday, February 12

As the challenges of the past year have exacted an enormous toll, artistic practice and pursuit have proven a balm for many. Guilford Art Center plans a multi-media exhibit of faculty work, called “Keeping On,” on February 12 – March 27. This exhibition shares how GAC instructors have engaged with their art to help them “keep on” during this time of the pandemic, or even how they have struggled, or changed creatively. Featured works include ceramics, painting, drawing, fiber art, metals, and sculpture by members of our 50 person faculty.

The GAC gallery is open Wednesday – Friday, 12:00-4:00pm and Saturdays 10:00 am-4:00pm. The gallery is free and open to the community. Mask wearing and social distancing is required upon entry. Click here for more information.
