JOOMCHI WORKSHOP

Joomchi is a traditional Korean way of making textured handmade paper using water and eager hands. Students will discover its history, practice and role in Korean society, and learn hands-on techniques and re-interpreted adaptations into a contemporary art form.

TEEN BLACKSMITHING; SESSION D
4 Tuesdays beginning December 7, 3:30 – 5:30pm

This class teaches basic forging techniques; how to build and maintain a coal fire, and use the new skills to make several small projects such as hooks, fire pokers and hand-forged jewelry.

LEATHER HOLIDAY ORNAMENTS WORKSHOPS
The holiday season is a time to make new memories. What better way to do it than to learn a new skill and make some gifts? We have opportunities for students of all ages to learn to make leather ornaments. Students will make several ornaments of different styles using leather working tools and learn some basic leather working techniques.

FORGING TONGS WORKSHOP

Learn the basic techniques of forging blacksmiths’ tongs. We will go through the basic process and explore different jaw styles. Expect to forge smaller tongs and bring home 2 or 3 pairs of finished tongs. This workshop is intended for students who have some forging experience and good hammer control, but beginners are also welcome.More info & registration

This weekend workshop will cover the basics of forging, grinding, heat treating and sharpening of a small utility knife. Discuss fit and finish, overall knife design, how to sharpen and care for knives and how to begin making knives on your own. Students should expect to forge several blades over the weekend and get at least one to the point of a usable knife.More info & registration
