Dive into the wondrous world of blue with this introductory workshop in indigo dyeing. Explore the art of stitch resist Shibori and dyeing with an organic indigo vat. Stitch shapes to create a resist resulting in beautiful patterns on the cloth when dipped into the indigo vat. On Saturday you’ll learn to stitch shibori patterns. On Sunday, learn how to pull the threads to create the resist, and then dye in an indigo vat. Included in the workshop are an organic 100% cotton ban-dana scoured and prepared for dyeing, as well as a prepared organic indigo vat, two sashiko needles, nylon thread and a water-soluble fabric pen. Please bring a pair of long dishwashing gloves, sewing scissors, a seam ripper and consider wearing an apron or clothes you don’t mind getting blue. Please note hours: Saturday 10am-12PM and Sunday 10am-1PM. Fee payable with tuition $50.00.
