FIRST WEEK OF MARCH: CLASSES & WORKSHOPS WITH OPENINGS

BLACKSMITHING 101
4 Tuesdays beginning March 1, 6:00-9:00pm
Instructor: Mace Vitale
This class will introduce students to the basics of forging steel to shape using a hammer and an anvil.

TEEN BLACKSMITHING; SESSION C
5 Tuesdays beginning March 1, 3:30 – 5:30pm
Instructor: Aidan Garrity
Open to teens 13+. Students will learn basic forging techniques, how to build and maintain a coal fire, and make several small projects such as hooks, fire pokers, and hand forged jewelry.

OPEN FORGE; SESSION C
5 Wednesdays beginning March 2, 6:00-9:00pm
Instructor: Mace Vitale
This is a chance for blacksmithing and bladesmithing students to continue projects they have started or start a new project under the guidance of a working smith. Projects will be tailored to the individual student.

NEEDLE BOOK/TREASURE BOOK EXPLORATIONS
2 Fridays March 4 & 11, 9:30am-12:30pm
Instructor: Claudia Mathison
Experiment hand stamping fabrics, stitching embroidery designs, beading, collage and more. Your finished fabric books will be perfect for storing tiny treasures or much needed sewing supplies. Momentos, fabric and personal items welcome. REGISTER NOW

LAMP WORKED GLASS BEADS WORKSHOP; SESSION B
Saturday-Sunday, March 5-6, 10:00am-4:00pm
Instructor: Stephanie Maddalena
Students will learn to use a torch to melt glass rods, creating personalized colorful beads. Many decorating techniques will be demonstrated, including enamels, metal foils, flowers and more.

PAPER MAKING WORKSHOP 
Saturday, March 5, 9:00am-12:00pm
Instructor: Jasmine Ahern
Students will become familiar with the process of making paper. We will experiment with things like plants and old clothing as our materials to create interesting and non-traditional pieces of artwork.

GARDEN TOOLS WORKSHOP
Saturday-Sunday, March 5-6, 10:00am-4:00pm
Instructor: Mace Vitale
Students can get ready for the spring gardening season creating utensils in the forge to work the soil. We will fashion a hand trowel using an old RR spike, a hand rake, and time permitting, a hand tool.
