Guilford Art Center Opens Registration for 2022 Spring Semester Classes & Workshops

Ready to get back into an art class or try one for the first time? Registration is now open for Spring 2022 classes and workshops at Guilford Art Center. Classes and workshops will begin the week of March 28, and are offered for adults, teens and youth. The spring semester runs from March 29 – June 3. Registration can be done online or in person at the Center.

Classes and workshops are available in a variety of mediums, including beading, blacksmithing, calligraphy, ceramics, drawing, fiber arts, metalsmithing, painting, photography, sculpture, and weaving.

“We are thrilled with the amount of support and participation in classes that we’ve seen so far this year. It seems people are so hungry for new experiences and opportunities for community, so interest in our classes is very high” says GAC Executive Director Maureen Belden. “We continue to follow all Covid-19 protocols to keep our students and faculty safe, and will continue to review these policies. Whether you take a class, visit a gallery exhibition or do some shopping, we hope the community knows that our doors are open!”

Blacksmithing classes include introductory sessions, forged blades, tomahawks, and war hammers. Pottery students can pursue hand building and potter’s wheel techniques; there are classes for true beginners as well as more experienced potters. Expanded fiber arts classes include “Stitch Your Truth”, tote bags, and creative re-working of garments. Glass classes includes stained glass and lamp worked glass beads. In the metals studio, student can explore making jewelry, discovering precious metal clay, and candlestick holders. Painting classes are offered in-person and online and include depicting glass in oils, drawing portraits and landscapes, abstracts, mixing colors and watercolor and watercolor pencils. Other classes include beading, drawing, photography, sculpture, encaustic printmaking, paper quilling, collage and weaving.

Children’s classes (for ages 5 and older) include how to draw cartoons, painting and drawing, clay, sewing, hand stitching and exploratory art, making recycled bird houses and paper flower wreaths. April vacation classes include Clay Explorations and Potholder Weaving. Blacksmithing and Stained Glass for Teens will be offered.
