No Craft Expo, Local Round-Ups, July 24 Pop-Up, Student Work
Just a reminder … no Craft Expo this year 🙁
Just a reminder to all the Craft Expo fans out there … the 2021 event was cancelled. We are extremely sad not to be with the artists and art enthusiasts this weekend on the Guilford Green.
We’ve tried to keep everyone informed, but there are still some websites out there carrying incorrect information. Please spread the word if you know someone planning to attend.
We are filled with excitement as we begin working on the 2022 event (July 15-17), so stay tuned for all the details!!
Rounding Up – Bishops & The Marketplace
There are two ways our local supporters can help GAC during the month of July. Both The Marketplace and Bishops Orchards offer shoppers the chance to “round up” all purchases, with proceeds going to support GAC educational programming.
We are so appreciative of the support from our wonderful Shoreline businesses. We encourage you to shop with them this month (and every month!).
The 2021 GAC Student Exhibition is now up in the gallery through July 31. Students shared reflections on how art helped them through the pandemic and was meaningful to them. Check our social media for all the featured works and video tour.
Gallery hours are Wednesday-Friday 12-3pm, Saturday 10am-4pm. Gallery entry is free and open to the public.
“Inspiration for my work comes from many directions. This piece was inspired by the simple shapes of Lapis and Fordite and their beautiful colors. I so appreciate being able to take this class. Always amazed and impressed by my fellow classmates’ work and support.”
– Yvonne Kavanagh, “Blue Moon on the Downward Slide”, Lapis Lazuli, Fordite, set in sterling silver.
Class: Metalsmithing Beyond Basics with Linda Edwards
“A workshop on mark-making, color, abstract shapes and effects of watercolors led to a use of natural forms, vibrant color mixing and expression. The rabbit is at home among the plant life, but the fruit and serpent are nearby.”
– Valentina Vitale, “The Garden”, watercolor
Class: Watercolor workshop with Marcy LaBella
“A fantasy piece!”
– Sarah Bishop, “Frog Queen”, ceramic, steel.
Class: Ceramics with Lisa Wolkow and Alice Chittenden
