Make Your Valentine Presents this Year

There are so many ways to show your love this holiday, and GAC gives you lots of options to do just that. Make flowers or hearts in the forge, weave a macrame garland, create paper flowers that won’t ever wilt, or get out the paint brush and create a work to share or keep. But you know what the most important part of all this is, right? It doesn’t matter what the final product looks like, rather it’s all about you giving the gift of handmade, crafted and created with love.

New Gallery Events

“A Connecticut Welcome” Exhibition opens next Friday, February 4th in the GAC gallery. Come view 35 pieces of fiber art created by twenty-two members of the Connecticut Region of the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA).

The pieces on display range from scenes of Connecticut, to people or events that welcome you in, to images or words that create a feeling of welcome or other ideas of how to explore Connecticut. Each work was juried into the exhibit by Anna Patalano, a painter with degrees from Yale University School of Art and Tyler School of Art.

The exhibit runs from February 4 – March 5. The gallery is open 7 days a week, is free to enter and open to the community. Please follow all GAC Covid protocols when visiting.

Book Signing & Art Exhibit with Author Jen Payne

Saturday, February 12, 1100 am-1:00pm

Connecticut writer Jen Payne (and graphic designer for GAC!) has long been inspired by those life moments that move us most – love and loss, joy and disappointment, milestones and turning points – and her new book WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE: A SORT-OF LOVE STORY tells of such a moment. It’s a conversation, a memoir, a love story – just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Told through a series of emails, WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE is the story of two people who reconnect after 15 years apart and work to reconcile their pasts … and futures. “Ultimately,” Jen says, “it’s about being brave and speaking our truth, about trust and vulnerability, about the true blessings found when we open our hearts.”

The gallery lobby will feature a specially curated exhibit of work by cover artist Sarah Zar throughout February.

Jen will offer complimentary coffee and donuts, packaged to go.
Free and open to the community. Please follow all GAC Covid protocols when visiting.
