WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS, YOUTH & TEENS THIS MONTH

Many classes have begun but there are always workshops held throughout the semester. Check out what’s happening for the rest of January!

January Classes

LET’S GET SEWING (kids ages 9+) STARTS TOMORROW!
8 Wednesdays beginning January 19, 4:00-6:00pm
Learn machine sewing basics while designing and stitching a cozy patchwork scarf, decorative pillow and unique tote bag. Hand sewing, embroidery and applique techniques will also be explored

SEW A TOTE BAG (adult class)
2 Fridays January 21 & 28, 9:30am-12:30pm
Design and sew an attractive tote bag while learning proper hemming, construction of boxed corners and lining techniques.

January Workshops

RECYCLED SEA CREATURES WORKSHOP (kids ages 7+)
Saturday, January 22
10:00am-12:00pm
Recreate animals of the sea with recycled materials like plastic bottles, cardboard, paper, string, etc. Together we will use our sculptural and 3D skills to make an exciting piece of art to commemorate ocean life.

LAMP WORKED GLASS BEADS WORKSHOP; SESSION A
Saturday-Sunday, January 29-30, 10:00am-4:00pm
Learn to use a torch to melt glass rods, creating personalized colorful beads. Many decorating techniques will be demonstrated, including enamels, metal foils, flowers and more.

WAR HAMMER WORKSHOP
Saturday-Sunday, January 22-23, 10:00am-5:00pm
Hot punch holes in 1 1/4″ round bar, split the face of the hammer and then forge a spike off the back end. Heat treat and hickory handles … then some testing on a steel drum!

MACRAME GARLAND WORKSHOP
Saturday, January 29, 12:00-4:00pm
Craft a boho-themed garland in beautiful winter white. Open to beginners and intermediate level macrame enthusiasts. Learn several basic knots; advanced knots will be introduced as well.

This exhibition is open to all works which use clay as the primary medium, both utilitarian and sculptural. The exhibition will present the variety of ways contemporary ceramics furthers craft traditions, explores innovative approaches, and serves as a medium for creating compelling new art works.
