We have lots of after school programs and weekend workshops for kids and teens this fall.

Upcycling (ages 5+)
8 Mondays begins September 20, 4:00-5:30pm
Use materials perceived as trash to transform products in creative ways to give value to the old and bring new life to the new. Instructor: Jasmine Ahern
 
Pottery for Kids (ages 5+)
8 Tuesdays begins September 21, 4:00-5:30pm
Kids will learn techniques used to build different forms from clay, including pinching, coiling and slabbing. Use imagination and creative skills to make something unique through the complete process of creating a ceramic piece. Instructor: Jasmine Ahern
 
A Hand in Nature (ages 7+)
8 Thursdays begins September 23, 4:00-6:00pm
Learn how to utilize and manipulate nature as well as recreate it. Make different textures and specimens of nature out of paper and tissue. Gain understanding of processes used in the everyday studio practice of working artists. Instructor: Jasmine Ahern
 
Experimental Paper Making (ages 7+)
8 Fridays begins September 24, 4:00-6:00 pm
Experiment with different materials like plants and old clothing to create fun and non-traditional pieces of artwork. Instructor: Jasmine Ahern
 
All Things Clay (ages 8+)
8 Mondays begins September 20, 4:00-6:00pm
Includes time on potters wheel as well as surface design techniques that will be taught including texturing, painting with colored clay slips and glazing. New class projects make this class suitable for both beginners and those with experience. Includes class project and independent ideas. Instructor: Alice Chittenden
 
 
An Exploration of Contemporary Artists (ages 8+)
8 Tuesdays begins September 21, 4:00-6:00pm
From Amy Sherald, Faith Ringgold, Jenny Holzer and Marisol Escobar, to Jean-Michel Basquait, Lloyd Riva New and more, this series of classes will explore the works of diverse contemporary artists. Each week, art will be make in the style of artist explored. Students will engage with drawing, painting, textiles, sculpture and more. Instructor: Amy Peters
 
Intro to Clay for Tweens & Teens (ages 10-14)
8 Wednesdays begins September 22, 4:00-6:00pm
Discover awesome properties of clay and its possibilities with throwing and hand building. Students will bend, tear, twist, shape, mold, scratch, impress, cut and pinch clay to form functional and non-functional pieces, which will be fired and glazed. We will work with the potter’s wheel and hand building to form each individual piece.

Come view work by the Guilford Art League, a collection of over 100 artists from the shoreline, in a variety of media.
Gallery hours: Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm, Sunday 12-4pm.
