STITCH A TOTE BAG
3 Fridays beginning October 28, 9:30am-12:30pm
Instructor: Claudia Mathison
Sew a tote bag while learning basic construction techniques such a drop in and turned linings, boxed corners, strap attachment and pocket placement. Machine sewing will be reviewed although basic sewing knowledge is helpful. Machines will be provided as well as a supply list. Fee payable with tuition $20. Tuition: $117; members $105.30.
PEARL KNOTTING WITHOUT TOOLS WORKSHOP
Saturday, October 29. 1:00pm-4:00pm
Instructor: Lynn Sheft
Hand-knotted strands of pearls are timeless. Learn how to hand-knot, which prevents pearls from rubbing and protects against loss if the strand breaks. Put away the tools; we’ll learn to do this with our hands. Material fee includes pearls, silk cord, big eye needle and clasp. Bring your own pearl necklace to restring if you have one. Fee payable with tuition $16. Tuition $39; members $35.10.
INTRO TO BLACKSMITHING WORKSHOP
Session B: Saturday-Sunday, October 29-30. 10:00am-4:00pm
Instructor: Mace Vitale
This workshop will introduce students to the basics of forging steel to shape using a hammer and an anvil. Fee payable with tuition $45. Tuition: $300; members $270.
TEEN BLACKSMITHING (ages 13+)
Session C: 4 Tuesdays beginning November 1. 3:30-5:30 pm (no class 11/18)
Instructor: Aidan Garrity
Teens will learn basic forging techniques, how to build and maintain a coal fire, and use new skills to make several small projects such as hooks, fire pokers and hand forged jewelry. Fee payable with tuition $10. Tuition $200; members $180.
