WORKSHOPS THIS WEEK

MASTERS IN WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP; VAN GOGH & GAUGUIN
Friday, October 14. 10:00am-1:00pm (ONLINE VIA ZOOM)
Instructor: Marcy LaBella

Study Van Gogh and Gauguin’s use of color, composition and their individual ways of seeing and creating. Work in watercolor, gouache, or other water-based media as you are inspired by these great artists. We will also use some mixed media such as water-color pencils and water-soluable crayons. Tuition: $39; members $35.10.

HALLOWEEN MARIONETTE WORKSHOP (ages 6+)
Saturday, October 15. 10:00am-12:00pm
Instructor: Betsy Chichester

This workshop is a fun way to get ready for Halloween. We’ll make simple marionettes with their own personality; then make them dance and fly and have fun! These puppets make great decorations for Halloween. Tuition $30; members $27.

TRY YOUR HAND AT PAINTING & DRAWING WORKSHOP
Saturday, October 15 (Session A) 10:00am-1:30pm
Instructor: Scott Paterson

Geared towards the absolute adult beginner to learn the basics of painting and drawing in a supportive session. Learn about basic techniques, materials and approaches to working creatively in two dimensions. Come discover your creative potential. Tuition $45; members $40.95. Materials fee $5.

NEEDLE FELT A SMALL SCULPTURE WORKSHOP
Saturday, October 15. 10:00am-1:00pm
Instructor: Amy Macy

Learn to use loose, roving wool to needle felt or sculpt a variety of shapes and forms to create anything from whimsical figures to modern rabbits, to little woodsman, to old world Santas. Students will be encouraged to explore their imagination for designs and taught to create well-bound objects that have proper density, limited loose fibers, and fine detail work. Other 100% natural materials, such as wood and leather, can be incorporated. Materials fee $25. Tuition: $39; members $35.10

MAKING A TOMAHAWK WORKSHOP (blacksmithing)
Saturday-Sunday, October 15-16, 10:00am-5:00pm
Instructor: Aidan Garrity

Students will create a tomahawk using the slit and draft method. The instructor will also demonstrate the wrap and weld method and explain the variations. Topics covered include forming the shape of the head, drifting the eye, fitting a handle, grinding and polishing the bit, heat treating and sharpening. Materials fee $30. Tuition: $350; members $315.
