Winter Semester Classes Begin Next Week. Register now!

As the winter chill settles in, we invite all skill levels and ages to warm up their artistic spirits with a variety of inspiring programs.Classes and workshops are available in a variety of mediums, including beading, blacksmithing, ceramics, collage, drawing, fiber arts, glass, leather, metalsmithing, painting, photography, sculpture, and weaving.

Teen classes include blacksmithing and stained glass. Kids classes include painting, leather, sewing, drawing, pottery and mixed media. There are several new classes and workshops offered with a focus on creative well-being and personal growth.

Free Workshops for Middle Schoolers

DROP-IN WORKSHOPS ON EARLY DISMISSAL WEDNESDAYS FOR GPS STUDENTS
Wednesdays, January 24 & March 27 12:45-2:45pm
Instructor: Carole Firth

Join us for this new program to coincide with Wednesday early dismissal days at Adams and Baldwin middle schools. Students are welcome to drop in between 12:45-2:45, when GAC instructor Carole Firth leads an art project for the afternoon. Students can also do independent exploration with materials on hand. Take an afternoon to explore your creativity. No need to register. It’s FREE!

AGES 5+

MAGICAL CREATURES & ANIMALS
8 Wednesdays beginning January 10, 4:00-6:00pm
Instructor: Carole Firth
Children will develop their own expressive art language and stretch imaginations while exploring different art materials, including watercolor, wax, chalk, clay, paper and natural elements like stones and shells. We’ll look at famous artworks, learn about printmaking, storytelling art, self-portrait and more. Fee payable with tuition $15. Tuition $240; Members $216.

WINTER CLAY WONDERLAND
8 Thursdays beginning January 11, 4:00-5:30pm
Instructor: Carole Firth
Join the sensory fun as we use our creativity to make imaginative forms. Learn to use artist’s tools working with air dry clay, paper clay, salt dough and paper mache sculpture. Some projects will include winter fairy houses, magic lanterns, and animals seen in winter like birds and deer. Fee payable with tuition $15. Tuition $180 Members $162.

AGES 7+

PAINTING EXTRAVAGANZA; SESSION A
4 Tuesdays beginning January 9, 4:00-6:00pm
Instructor: Amy Peters
Students will experiment with watercolor, tempera and acrylic paints. We will make figurative and abstract paintings on paper and canvases. We’ll look at the work of painters from the history of art, including Takashi Murakami, Jean-Michel Basquait, Damien Hirst and Barbara Kruger. Tuition $120; Members $108.

MLK Holiday
GAC will be closed on January 15 for the MLK holiday. If you have a Monday class, that day will be made up at the end of the semester. Please talk with your instructor if you have questions about scheduling.
