This Sunday, April 26: Meet the artists from Gallery One at GAC.
Free Opening Reception from 2-4pm. All welcome. The artists of Gallery One present “Inside Looking Out,” an exhibition exploring the subtle boundary between our inner lives and the outside world. Whether it be painting, photography, collage or sculpture, the artists make meaningful connections through visual narratives.
The show is on view at the Gallery at the Guilford Art Center from April 24 – May 17. Join the artists for the opening reception on Sunday, April 26, from 2pm to 4pm.
Exhibiting artists include: Rosemary Cotnoir (Westbrook), Michael Fanelli (Clinton), Victor Filepp (New London), Karen Israel (West Hartford), Ann Knickerbocker (Old Saybrook), Brian McClear (West Hartford), T. Willie Raney (Ivoryton), Diana Rogers (Clinton), Rick Silberberg (Ivoryton), Jill Vaughn (Ivoryton), and guest artists Judith Barbour Osborne (Chester) and Mariette Brown (Old Saybrook).
“As artists, what we see outside is often shaped by the rooms we carry within. The boundary between inside and outside begins to blur as we create,” said Michael Fanelli.
“I find it fascinating that working with collage often reveals powerful visual metaphors in my art. From the patterns of sand waves to the beautiful sea creatures that once flourished on our shores, we are all connected,” said artist Jill Vaughn.
“As I face each new blank canvas, I can find myself feeling too introspective. When I begin to look outward, suddenly the new artwork can begin to breath,” said artist Ann Knickerbocker.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm and Sunday, 12pm to 4pm. Exhibition is open April 24 – May 17.
