Holiday Expo Vendor Call
Artists & Makers Invited to Apply to Sell Works

Guilford Art Center invites artists and makers to apply for Holiday Expo 2026, our annual holiday shopping event featuring a diverse selection of original, handcrafted work. We welcome submissions in a wide range of craft media, including ceramics, woodworking, glass, jewelry, metalwork, stationery, leather, personal care, candles, home goods, textiles, fiber arts, and more. The Gallery

The 78th Annual Juried Exhibition & Sale will be on view September 7–26 in the Gallery at Guilford Art Center, offering visitors the opportunity to experience and purchase original artwork by artists from across Connecticut.

The Annual Juried Exhibition is one of the League’s signature events, bringing together artwork selected by an independent juror. This year’s juror is Nancy Whitcher, a Connecticut-based, classically trained artist who works in printmaking, sculpture and photography. Her work has been exhibited in local, regional and national juried exhibitions and is held in permanent and private collections. Whitcher is also a member of several Connecticut art organizations and is President Emeritus of CT Women Artists. Opening Reception: Sunday, September 13, 1–3pm. Free. All invited. The Gallery is open 7 days a week, Mon-Sat 10am-4pm, Sunday 12-4pm.

We are Hiring: PT Weekend Shop Assistant

We are seeking a friendly, welcoming, and reliable part-time Shop Assistant to join our team on weekends.
As the first point of contact, you will play a key role in creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for our shop and gallery customers. Hours: Weekends, with flexibility, Saturday 10 am – 4 pm, and/or Sunday 12 noon – 4 pm. Extra hours for the Holiday Season (Nov 14 – Jan 3, 2027) may be available. This is part-time and hourly paid. Knife Sharpening & Introduction to Blacksmithing: Spaces Available

Knife-Sharpening Workshop: Session B

Learn the essentials of knife sharpening using stones and honing tools to achieve a clean, precise edge. Perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to maintain their kitchen or workshop knives with confidence.

Intro to Blacksmithing/Open Forge
Instructor: Mace Vitale

Learn the basics of forging steel; geared towards the absolute beginner, this workshop is designed to be educational and enjoyable for everyone. Shape and forge hot steel using a hammer and anvil to complete a variety of projects.

Session C: 4 Wednesdays beginning Sept 2, 6-9pm
Session D: Saturday-Sunday, Sept 12-13, 10am-4pm
