TEACHING POSITIONS
Teaching positions are available for semester long classes and weekend workshops. Consideration is given to those with prior teaching experience and to curriculum that complements the programs at the Center. VISITOR SERVICE (part-time weekdays)

Visitor Service staff members are responsible for providing the optimal experience for all GAC visitors, students, shoppers and callers. They will possess full knowledge of the GAC school, shop, gallery, and events.  They will answer phones and register students. They will also conduct shop and gallery sales and fulfill other related duties. They work closely with the Education Coordinator and Shop Manager and are supervised by the Executive Director. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serving as a key point of contact for all visitors, students, and shop and gallery customers: greeting and welcoming them in person or on the phone with a warm and informative manner. Assisting with information regarding full scope of procedures for the school, gallery and shop.
  • Processing all class registrations and memberships using computerized registration system, including sale and application of gift certificates and application of school credits.
  • Making shop sales, including sale and application of gift certificates and application of store credits; assisting with display, data entry and ticketing of merchandise, inventories, packing and shipping; keeping shop and merchandise clean, polished, etc.
  • Day-end reconciliation of all monies: registrations, shop sales, and other transactions.
  • Assisting other staff with occasional projects, including but not limited to social media posts; preparing mailings; filing; assisting at events.

Requirements: Strong communication and people skills; ability to multi-task; positive can-do attitude; dependability; familiarity with, or ability to learn computerized registration and POS systems; knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, and stand for extended periods of time; college degree or equivalent work experience.

Hours: 15 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 10am-1pm. Occasional or extra weekend hours are available and may be required, e.g. during holiday season.
