GAC Summer Kids Program FAQ

 

Are studios air conditioned?
Yes! All classrooms and studios are air conditioned.

Can children register as individual members?
All children under the age of 21 must register as part of a family membership.

Are class age requirements strictly followed? 
We need to be fairly stringent about our age requirements, as each class is carefully designed for particular ages.

How old does a child need to be to attend a teen class?
Teen classes are open to kids ages 13 and older.

Is there a supervised break time during class? Should students bring a snack?
Yes, there are supervised break times during classes. Although it isn’t required, students are encouraged to bring a snack and a water bottle.

Do students go outside for break?
If the weather is good, each class will have a break time for the kids to go outside for a good mental and physical break. We have a grassy area with picnic tables and shade cover. Children are able to sit at tables and enjoy their snack, play board games, draw with sidewalk chalk, etc.

Is there a supervised lunch break for students staying the full day?
Yes, this is called “Bridge Care.” Students need to be registered and there is a nominal fee to be in the Bridge Care program. Supervised lunch breaks will be taken outside at the picnic tables or indoors during inclement weather.

Is there afternoon (after 4pm) supervised care?
No, there is no care offered after 4 pm.

How many children are in each class?
Class sizes differ based on the children’s ages and the art category, but in general class size is usually 12 children.

Are there assistants in each class?
Each class has a professional instructor, and most classes will have a volunteer helper. These helpers are usually high-school aged.

Can classes be prorated?
No, we do not prorate classes.
