Laura Leonard is a curator and museum professional passionate about expanding narratives in American art. She currently works at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT, where she curates projects ranging from focused gallery displays to traveling exhibitions that foster meaningful connections between art and audiences. Grounded in research and guided by a commitment to equity, her approach champions diverse media and makers to broaden how American art is presented and understood. Most recently, she co-curated “(Un)Settled: The Landscape in American Art”, an exhibition that explores how artists have engaged with their surroundings from the colonial era to present. Leonard earned her M.A. in art history from Savannah College of Art and Design, where she wrote an award-winning thesis on the women of Black Mountain College. She brings a thoughtful and inclusive perspective to the jurying process, with a deep appreciation for contemporary art, material culture, and the ways artists respond to and reflect the broader cultural landscape.
