Ceramics Biennial Opening Reception this Friday, 5-7pm

You’re invited to the Opening Reception of the Ceramics Biennial Exhibition this Friday, June 28, 5-7pm.This event is free and open to the community. Many local exhibiting artists will be in attendance.

This exhibition presents contemporary works in clay, both functional and non-functional, by over 40 American artists from across the nation. It represents a fascinating overview of the variety of ways ceramic artists further craft traditions, explore innovative approaches, and utilize this ancient medium for creating compelling new works. There are 49 works on display.

Ceramics Biennial 2024 is juried by renowned ceramic artist Kathy King, who is an active studio artist in the Boston area and the Director of the Ceramics Program and Visual Arts Initiative at the Office for the Arts at Harvard.

“It’s fantastic to work with Kathy King to present this national overview of ceramic practice today,” says Guilford Art Center Executive Director Maureen Belden. “Her keen involvement with this field has yielded a vibrant exhibition this year. GAC has long been a stronghold of ceramics instruction, and this biennial presentation of national work provides great context for our program.”

This exhibit is open June 28 – August 4. Entrance to the gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm and Sunday, 12-4pm.
