Designers Circus Opens Tomorrow

Ready to refresh your closet?
Designers Circus, Boston’s premier destination for women’s clothing 50-90% below boutique prices, has filled our gallery with fresh new finds for spring. Shop for women’s clothing (jackets, pants, dresses, skirts, tops) and accessories (bags, scarves, hats, wallets, etc). You’ll find unique pieces created by over 70 local, national and international designers. There are styles for women of all ages and sizes.

Register for Spring & Summer Classes & Workshops

Spring Adult & Youth

There are so many creative experiences to explore this spring. Many classes are underway, but there are new workshops offered up every weekend. Make sure to look at the catalog and register quickly to reserve your spot. There are classes and workshops for adults, teens and youth. (See below for workshops coming up in the next week.)

Summer Youth Program

Registration is open for our 9 week summer program for kids 5-12 years, plus tween and teens. The summer session will run from June 19-August 18, Kids can explore painting, drawing, sewing, sculpture, pottery, metals, cartooning, and so much more.

Friday 4/21 Pottery Jam Workshop
Try some beginner hand building techniques at the table and see how pottery is made on the wheel. If you’ve been wanting to try out pottery but don’t know where to start, this would be a great introductory session workshop for you.

Friday, 4/28-30 Sailor’s Knife Workshop: Session A
In this 3-day class, students will create a small sheepsfoot utility blade, as well as a full steel marlin spike, a pointed tool used for tying and untying rigging knots.

Saturday, 4/29 Try Your Hand at Painting and Drawing Workshop
This workshop is geared towards the “absolute adult beginner” to come learn the basics of painting and drawing in a supportive, judgement-free session. Spend the morning in the GAC studios and learn about basic techniques, materials and approaches to working creatively in two dimensions.

Saturday 4/29 Measuring Spoons Workshop
Make your own set of measuring spoons that you can use for cooking/baking.

Sunday 4/30 Working with Gold Workshop
This workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to step up their bench working skills and expand their metal palette to conquer the fear of gold. 

 


 

Upcoming Youth Class

Wire Sculpture
Ages 9+
4 Thursdays beginning May 4, 4:00-6:00pm
Explore your creativity in three dimensions. Using wire, bend it into all types of forms, human, animal, and abstract. Create mobiles or stabiles like the famous sculptor, Alexander Calder. Each week the instructor will suggest subject matter and help each student work with the wire.

What’s Next in the Gallery

Gallery One CT will present Light and Line from April 28 to May 21, with a reception planned for Sunday, May 7, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Light and Line exhibit features work by Gallery One artists who explore the interplay between light and line to create a visual dialogue with movement, color, and form. Connecticut based Gallery One represents a diverse group of established artists whose works reflect different artistic traditions.

Exhibiting artists include Rosemary Cotnoir (Westbrook), Michael Fanelli (Clinton), Victor Filepp (New London), Karen Israel (West Hartford), Ann Knickerbocker (Old Saybrook), T. Willie Raney (Ivoryton), Diana Rogers (Clinton), Rick Silberberg (Ivoryton), and Jill Vaughn (Ivoryton) and guest artists: Judith Barbour Osborne (Chester), Sheila Kaczmarek (Guilford), and Brian McClear (West Hartford).

The gallery is free and open 7 days a week.
