This Friday! Opening Reception for GAC Faculty Exhibition

Come celebrate the first gallery show of 2023! We’ll gather this Friday for the Opening Reception of the GAC Faculty Exhibition. The exhibit features a multi-media exhibit of faculty work that includes ceramics, painting, drawing, fiber art, metals, and sculpture by members of GAC’s professional faculty.The event is free and open to the community. Grab a refreshment and meet the artists, learning more about their inspirations and process. This Friday, Feb 3, 5-7pm.

Soldering Tips & Tricks Workshop
Saturday, Feb 4. 10:00am-4:00pm
Instructor: Joy Raskin
This workshop will cover the basics of how to set up your own soldering space, torch and tank, including safety issues. We will cover soldiering basics to advanced. Great for those who have been taking jewelry classes but want to understand or improve their soldering skills. Fee payable with tuition $15. Tuition $230; GAC members $207

Soldered Chains Workshop
Sunday, Feb 5. 10:00am-4:00pm
Instructor: Joy Raskin
Chains covered will be basic cable chain with variations, twisted link chains, linking chains, simple loop in loop chains, and more. Tips on soldering large rings with glass or gem beads right on the rings will be given. This workshop is also great for learning to do assembly line soldering. $10-$40 materials fee for silver brass copper wire and silver soldier. Tuition $230: GAC members $207

Acrylic Painting
Saturday, March 4. 10:00am-4:00pm
Instructor: Scott Paterson
Do you have some background in painting or drawing but want to move beyond your current level? This class will help. Will cover various approaches developing compositions, become more aware of total values and make color a friend. Tuition $208; GAC members $187.20

Donut Bail Workshop (Beading)
Sunday, March 5. 10:00am-4:00pm
Instructor; Lynn Sheft
Many people admire gemstone donuts, but they are unsure of what to do with them. Learn to leave a wire bail to produce a beautiful pendant. Use it as a focal piece in a beaded necklace or simply put it on a chain. Once you’ve made one pendant, you’re sure to want to make another. Fee payable with tuition $14. Tuition $39; GAC members $35.10

Looking Ahead – 2023 Gallery Schedule
The Gallery at Guilford Art Center presents exhibits of contemporary American art and craft and serves as a venue for a number of community arts organizations. It is open year-round and is always free to the public.
