This summer, Guilford Art Center encourages children to keep their creativity alive through its Summer Youth Art Program, running weekly from June 23 – August 22. Designed for ages 5–12, the program offers hands-on art classes in painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, mixed media, and more—all taught by experienced, professional teaching artists in a supportive, inspiring environment.
Why Creative Learning Shouldn’t Stop in Summer
“Summer is a crucial time for young minds,” says Maureen Belden, Executive Director of Guilford Art Center. “When school is out, kids still need outlets for self-expression, learning, and connection. Our summer art program is about more than just making things—it’s about building confidence, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong love for the arts.”
Art education during the summer gives kids a break from screens while engaging both their hands and imaginations. Creative exploration supports mental well-being, encourages resilience, and fosters friendships across age groups and backgrounds.
To make the program more accessible for working parents and caregivers, Guilford Art Center offers Bridge Care—supervised, unstructured care between the morning and after session, creating a more flexible full-day option. Whether your child is enrolled in a morning or afternoon camp, Bridge Care ensures they’re cared for in a safe, welcoming space with creative materials and gentle guidance.
Financial Aid Available to All
Financial aid is available and open to everyone. “We never want cost to be a barrier,” says Belden. “Thanks to generous supporters and community partners, we’re able to offer tuition assistance for families who need it. It’s part of our mission to make the arts truly accessible to all.”
The financial aid application process is simple and confidential, and families are encouraged to apply early as funds are limited.
