Clay For Tweens

Students will explore hand-building techniques including pinch, coil, and slab methods, while learning decorative surface approaches such as carving, stamping, and adding clay embellishments. Instruction will also include the use of the potter’s wheel. Glazing techniques will allow students to add color and create a smooth, finished surface. Classes will feature guided projects as well as time for students to develop their own creative ideas.
Tuesday Night Ceramics with Claudia Schiavone

Open to all levels, GAC’s ceramics classes and workshops support both beginners and experienced students. Skilled instructors guide you through designing, wheel throwing, handbuilding, and glazing, helping you develop both functional pieces, and expressive sculptural work while exploring your personal style.
Ceramics classes are named by day and time to make scheduling easy; all cover the same core material and offer the full Ceramics experience unless otherwise noted. Tuition includes two scheduled open studio sessions per week. Clay must be purchased in class ($32–$35 per bag; cash, check, or PayPal accepted). Lab and clay fees cover firings and glaze materials.
Kids Pottery By Wheel & Hand

Students will work on the potter’s wheel and learn hand building methods as well.
Beginners will learn all the basics of pottery while returning students will get a chance to
improve their skills on new projects. Students can make some pieces to use for food and
drink; there will also be time to explore their own ideas. Several finishing and glazing
techniques will be taught. Please note: NO class on 1/19
Kids’ Spring Pottery

Explore the fun of the pottery room! Children will learn a variety of clay techniques, including pinch, slab, coil, and more, while becoming familiar with pottery tools, stamping, and different glazes. Finished pieces will be fired in the kiln. Throughout the session, students will create spring-themed projects such as planters, Earth Day tree sculptures, trinket containers, outdoor hangings, animals, and even animal masks.

Valentine Pottery Date Night Workshop

Get down and dirty with your Valentine at GAC! Hand-build your own clay creations side by side. No wheel, no pressure — just laughs, wine (BYOB!), and something special you’ll shape together.
Kid’s Pottery: Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

Follow Alice’s adventures down the rabbit hole and create whimsical “Wonderland” pottery. Kids can create an enchanted tea party set with Alice, the Mad Hatter, the white rabbit and an enchanted teapot! Other characters to create include the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar on the mushroom and the Red Queen. Paint your fanciful creations in bright glazes and bold patterns to mirror the colorful story.

To make it easier to find the right fit, we’ve renamed our ceramics classes by day and time, so you can quickly choose what works best for your schedule. No matter which class you take, you’ll cover the same core material and enjoy the full pottery experience. All classes open to all levels except where indicated.
