Want to learn a fun and functional mending skill? Darning is a playful meditative practice rooted in sustainability. In this introductory workshop you’ll learn how to repair holes and strengthen thinning spots in knit clothing and textiles through a unique method of weaving yarn or thread with a needle. It sometimes works on looser-weave fabrics too. Bring one or more well-loved clothing items with holes or threadbare areas. Worn socks are great to begin with and scarves, sweaters, hats, knit throw blankets etc. are also welcome. Extra items to practice on will be available for those who don’t bring their own or want to start on a low stakes project. Open to beginner and experienced textile crafters alike.

You'll also learn how to read a weaving chart and some time-saving tips. Materials fee includes 100% cotton loops, printed weaving charts, and use of metal peg loom and hooks.

Rigid Heddle weaving is a great way to learn the basics of weaving and make a great product. Class covers the mechanics of a rigid loom, types of articles we can weave, weaving patterns, design ideas, and finishing. You’ll leave with a handmade piece you’ll be proud to show off or even use every day! Please note: NO class 1/19.

Sweetheart Twill Weaves Workshop

Using 100% cotton loop materials from a New England family-owned mill and a sturdy metal peg loom, create a coordinating pair of potholders with your choice of traditional or contemporary color schemes. You’ll finish at least one potholder in class and be able to complete the other at home. Printed weaving charts and 100% cotton weaving loops are included in materials fee; bring embroidery scissors. Needle Felted Sculpture Workshop

Bring an idea or just come to play and explore the magical art form of needle felting. Using a special barbed needle and colorful wool, layer and form textures that can be relief sculptures or fully 3 dimensional ones. There are limitless possibilities such as embellishing garments like boiled wool jackets or making puppets. It is an enjoyable medium that is easy to work on anywhere; no water or paint to clean up.

Weaving Mug Rugs Workshop

Weave a coordinating set of four mug rugs on the traditional size peg loom with your choice of color ways. Complete four tabby patterns inspired by classic fabric arts, including the nine-patch quilt block, plaid, gingham, and bordered square.
