Leather Halloween Masks Workshop

Leather

Every goblin and ghoul loves a good mask and what better time to make one than right around Halloween! In this class students will make a leather half mask that they have tooled, wet formed and dyed themselves. Each mask will be completely custom made and as unique as the individual making it. This course will focus on teaching tooling skills, the wet forming process, discussions about choosing the right leather materials, finishing skills and basic pattern concepts. Join us to make something truly spooktacular that will last you for decades of Halloweens (and masquerade parties) to come!

Learning Leather Inlay Workshop

Blacksmithing

Leather is a wonderful medium and has more versatility than many think! In this class we will explore the technique of inlaying other materials in leather to enhance the look of a piece or just give it a bit of style! Students will have the opportunity to learn how to inlay either cabochon stones or other animal skins into leather to create a completely unique look. Students will have a choice to complete this technique on either a wearable piece – such as a cuff bracelet, pendant, earrings or headband – or a small usable piece such as a folding card holder or checkbook cover. This class will cover the basics of patterning, tooling, inlay work, adding hardware and dye work.

Leather Knife Sheath Workshop

Blacksmithing

A good knife can last you a lifetime if you give it a good home. This class gives you the opportunity to do that. This class will teach you how to design, pattern, sew and treat either a pouch, split toe style or stud style sheath. This sheath can be made with or without a belt loop. We will explore different design aspects and options. Beginners welcome. To participate in this class you will be required to bring a knife to pattern. What style sheath you make will be determined by the kind of knife you bring with you.
