Come to an enchanted tea party with a fairy queen, a king, and imaginary beings of the summer woods! Make and decorate miniature tea sets with pretend food, baskets with fruits, mushrooms and foliage, magic potions and animals that live with their fairy companions Create structures such as treeforts, castles, hammocks,canopies, swimming pools, fountains, pathways and towers for the fairies and magical beings to enjoy. We will explore many different kinds of art-making techniques along the way including; forming clay ,using fabric, 3 dimensional sculpture construction, gluing , painting,sketching and incorporating nature into artwork. Bring your wand and wings because you are invited to the festivities!

Students will be able to use a large variety of mixed media such as recycled cardboard, corks, wood, clay – and more – to make their own fun fairs! Explore the interaction of colors on the color wheel and ideas of Pop and Op Art to make lively carnivals. Students will be designers, architects and artists while creating their own imaginarium.

Summer Joy Air Dry Clay 7/13-17 Week 4

Explore the fun of creating summer-themed air dry clay projects. Children will paint projects with underglazes and bright summer colors . They will also embellish their clay with fun materials like; shells, beads, glitter, googly eyes, pipe cleaners as well as natural materials like; stones ,acorn caps , sticks, leaves, sand, pinecones and flowers. Little artists will explore all the wonderful techniques of using clay such as ; coiling, hinging, slab rolling, pressing stamps, and using different types of clay tools to make a variety of marks and lines. Some projects will include underwater sea creatures, animals that live in the woods , fields and trees, shaped botanical containers ,coil pots, treasure boxes and luminaries to set on a summer porch. Come roll up your sleeves and join the clay fun!

Your Favorite Book Characters 7/6-10 Week 3

Think of the books you love. Who are the best characters? You can make them out of clay. What do they like to do and where does all the action happen? You can paint a cardboard mural of where they live, and the places they go. What are the vehicles, buildings and machines of their magic worlds? We have all the materials for all the fun.

Magical Creatures 6/22-26 Week 1

Mixed Media Classes

Explore different mixed media to create story scenes, masks, clay beings, puppets, and more. We will draw, glue, assemble, mix colors, cut out forms and try different types of paints like; watercolors, acrylic and gouache. We will also explore texture, print-making and sketching techniques with paint pens, markers, charcoal, crayons, and scratch tools for sgraffito. Children will have opportunities to look at and be inspired by books and images from artists that have created many awesome imaginary creatures and come up with their own unique ones.
