Work with clay to make masks decorated with colorful tissue paper and build with wood and natural objects. Explore watercolor paintings and colored sands. Make paper dolls, animals, birds, insects and imaginary creatures.
Creative Air-Dry Clay: Session B
Open to ages 5-7

Instructor: Carole Firth
Make a variety of objects such as luminaries and sculptures in clay with summer themes like dragonflies, bees and sea life. Incorporate materials into the clay like sea glass, beads and shells. Finish with an acrylic glaze. Beautiful summer art!
Decorative Arts Around the World
Open to ages 8-12

Learn about decorative arts and crafts from around the world and throughout history by looking at the work of famous artists, craftspeople and folk artists. Some projects to choose from: weave a rug or wall hanging, paint a teas set and cutting board; decoupage a tray or jewelry box, create ceramic vase & toys.

Mix it Up! Forging Mixed Metals

Do you want to work with metal but don’t know how to start? Or, do you want to incorporate other metals into your forge work, but need some direction? In this new blacksmithing workshop, you will learn to forge and finish a variety of metals, both ferrous and non-ferrous. You will also combine different types of metals using riveting, brazing, and welding. This class is all about opening up the possibilities in blacksmithing shop!
Learn the Art of Weaving with Paper

Instead of the traditional way of weaving with yarn, students will create a color weave pattern with paper strips of colored and patterned papers. Choose different color combinations to create your design on heavy paper as a finished woven work of art.
Tomahawk Forging Workshop
Saturday-Sunday, July 19-20

Instructor: Aidan Garrity
Students will forge a tomahawk using the slit and drift method. The instructor will also demonstrate the wrap and weld method and explain the variations. Blacksmithing topics covered will include forming the shape of the head, drifting the eye, fitting a handle, grinding and polishing the bit, heat treating, and sharpening.
Learning Leather Inlay Workshop

Students will explore the technique of inlaying other materials in leather to enhance the look of a piece or just give it a bit of style! Learn how to inlay either cabochon stones or other animal skins into leather to create a completely unique look. Students will learn to complete this technique on either a wearable piece – such as a cuff bracelet, pendant, earrings or headband – or a small usable piece such as a folding card holder or checkbook cover. This class will cover the basics of patterning, tooling, inlay work, adding hardware and dye work.
