CHARACTER CREATION
Open to ages 8-12

Do you want to learn how to make great characters for animation, comics, picture books and games? Come learn everything you need to know to bring the characters you imagine to life. We will use expression, color, shape, movement and design, and discuss costumes and clothing. Learn standards used by animators and artists to createseveral characters in class. Students will also get to build a model of one of their characters. Personal sketchbook is recommended. Fee payable with tuition $25.

WEEK 4: JULY 8-12

BUGS, BEAST & BLOOMS: SESSION A
Open to ages 5-7
1:00-4:00pm
Instructor: Deborah Gillette-Youngblood
We will celebrate bugs, birds and blooms and create fun projects that recreate the beauty and intricacy of insects, birds and flowers. Each project can be given its own original design by each student. The creation will be unique in their design, materials and possibly include movable kinetics.

SEE, DRAW & TRANSFORM; SESSION B
Open to ages 8-12

Students will hone their realistic drawing skills while also discovering creative ways for transforming sketches into imaginative artworks. We’ll learn to draw what we see with details and accuracy, simultaneously considering our emotions, being mindful of our feelings and enfolding them in our work. Our class will transform and recreate everything around us into unique artworks: people, houses, trees, flowers, birds, tables books and all sorts of everyday things.

THE ARTFUL BEADER
Open to ages 8-12

Instructor: Renee Soares
Journey into the world of beaded jewelry and wall art. We will design and create unique bracelets, earrings, necklaces and anklets. Additional projects will include beaded clay pendants and painted mandalas. A variety of glass, resin and metal beads, glass cabochons, charms, beading wire and findings will be provided. The focus of student projects will be to highlight the use of color to create various kinds of patterns. Class requires patience with lots of imagination. Fee payable with tuition $20.

AFRICAN SAFARI MASK MAKING WORKSHOP
SESSION A: Saturday, July 13. 10:00am-12:00pm
Open to 7-9 yrs.
Instructor: Patricia Meglio
Take a make-believe trip on an African Safari this summer! Design your own mask using wild animal designs ready to assemble. Choose from a lion, a giraffe, and an elephant and make a unique design using crayons and precut cardboard pieces.
Fee payable with tuition $10. Tuition $30; Members $27.

SUMMER BOTANICALS WORKSHOP
SESSION B: Sunday, July 28. 12:30-3:00pm
Open to ages 11+
Instructor: Carole Firth
Join in the colorful fun during this weekend workshop as we learn how to use summer botanicals to create art. Using printmaking, natural dyeing, painting and collage techniques, we will explore ways to integrate pressed flowers and leaves onto a variety of surfaces, including recycled jars, fabric and papers.
