Many classes begin next week, so register now!

Do your kids love art and summer? Combine the best of both worlds and get them registered for our summer art camp program. Choose from half-day or full-day programs over a 10 week period. Open to kids ages 5 and older, plus tween and teen classes and workshops.

 


 
In the Gallery: New Haven Paint & Clay Club Exhibit

The gallery is filled with a dynamic array of paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media pieces, each offering a unique perspective and narrative. From traditional landscapes to abstract compositions, the artworks on display promise to ignite imagination, provoke thought, and evoke emotional resonance. Open March 18 – April 12. The gallery is open 7 days a week. Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm; Sunday 12-4pm.

 


 

Introduction to Blacksmithing

Guilford Art Center operates a fully-equipped forge where students take classes and workshops in blacksmithing, swordsmithing, bladesmithing and metalworking. It is one of the largest working/teaching forges in the Northeast that is open to students of all levels and abilities.

If you’ve always wanted to try blacksmithing, the “Introduction to Blacksmithing” workshop is a great way to learn the basics. Students are introduced to the basics of forging steel to shape using a hammer and an anvil.

There are 3 adult sessions that are offered by our forge manager, Mace Vitale:

Session A: Wednesdays beginning April 3, 6:00-9:00pm
Session B: Saturday-Sunday, April 6-7, 10:00am-4:00pm
Session C: 4 Wednesdays beginning May 1, 6:00-9:00pm

We also offer blacksmithing for teens!
Open to all levels and abilities. All sessions are 3:30-5:30pm.
Session A: 4 Tuesdays beginning April 9
Session B: 4 Tuesdays beginning May 7
Session C: 4 Tuesdays beginning June 4

 


 

April Vacation Workshops for Kids

APRIL VACATION – CRAFT EXPLORATIONS (ages 5+)
Monday, April 8
9:00am-12:00pm
Instructor: Claudia Mathison
Let’s explore clay, wood and papers by creating clay animals, wooden assemblages and colorful paper collages. You’ll learn to mold clay, build 3 dimensional objects with wood and cut, fold and curl papers for collages. Fee payable with tuition $15.

APRIL VACATION – CLAY EXPLORATIONS (ages 7+)
Wednesday, April 10
9:00am-12:00pm
Instructor: Claudia Mathison
Explore the many possibilities of creating with air dry clay! We’ll sculpt animals using a pinch and pull technique, build bowls from coils and design creepy crawling snakes and insects. Fee payable with tuition $10.

APRIL VACATION – STILL LIFE PAINTING WITH WATERCOLOR PENCILS (ages 8+)
Tuesday, April 9
9:00am-12:00pm
Instructor: Claudia Mathison
In tExplore a different way of seeing while drawing and painting a still life using watercolor pencils and artists canvas. You’ll learn about perspective, foreground and background, color blending and design. Fee payable with tuition $20.

April 5 – Literary Open Mic Night at GAC

GAC is hosting a Literary Open Mic, Friday April 5 from 7PM – 9PM. GAC will welcome special guest Bookish Babes and Brews for a “Blind Date with a Book” that will coincide with the event.

The Literary Open Mic Night is a collaborative effort between Guilford Art Center and local social media influencer duo, Bookish Babes & Brews. This unique event aims to provide a platform for writers of all genres and backgrounds to showcase their work in a supportive and inclusive environment.Sign-ups start at 7, with performances by 7:30.

Performers are invited to read an example of their own written work of poetry, prose, short stories and excerpts from novels, but are also welcome to perform work written by someone else. Performance slots will be up to 10min long. Writers interested in participating are encouraged to sign up in advance; registrations are also accepted at the event. Designers Circus Spring Clothing Pop-Up Event

Ready for some fresh spring fashion? Come shop at the Designers Circus pop-up shopping event at Guilford Art Center from April 18-20.

Designers Circus is Boston’s premier destination for creative women’s clothing at 50 to 90% below boutique prices, a pop up event and experience in social shopping, all in one! You can find unique and few of a kind women’s clothing and accessories created by over 70 local, national, and international designers. Designers Circus offers artful casual, work and special event clothing for women of all ages and sizes.

The sale will be open on Thursday, April 18 from 10am – 5pm, Friday, April 19 from 10am-5pm, and Saturday April 20 from 11am-3pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
