New Exhibit Features Works by Students & Resident Potter Jess Reeve

New work by adult students at Guilford Art Center will be featured in the GAC Student Exhibition & Works by Resident Potter in the Center’s gallery, August 16 – September 1. The show will highlight recent work in all media by adult students who have taken classes or workshops at Guilford Art Center in the past two years. The exhibition will include work across mediums, including paintings and drawings, ceramics, weaving, blacksmithing, jewelry, stone carving and glass.

Additionally, work by Guilford Art Center Resident Potter, Jess Reeve, will also be featured. Reeve’s time as the Guilford Art Center’s Resident Potter has been spent throwing functional pieces that explore the relationship between tradition and modernity. She enjoys making work that can be used in domestic spaces, specifically in relation to cooking and sharing food.

The Opening Reception event will be held Friday, August 23, 5-7pm. It is free and open to the public.

“This exhibition is an opportunity for Guilford Art Center to showcase the works our students of all levels have created in our classes. We are also thrilled to showcase the work of our current Resident Potter, Jess Reeve, who has assisted and inspired our ceramics students during past years” says GAC Executive Director Maureen Belden. “We believe the community will be inspired by the work created by our students in our studios across multiple disciplines. And perhaps even come join us for a class to create work of their own!”

The Student Exhibition opens on Friday, August 16 and will be in place through September 1. Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday 10:00am-4:00pm, Sunday 12:00-4:00pm. Gallery entry is free and open to the public. For more information contact www.guilfordartcenter.org or 203-453-5947.
