MACHINE SEWING BASICS
4 Fridays beginning May , April 28-30, 10:00am-5:00pm
Students will master the basics of machine and hand sewing. Proper hemming, measuring and fabric selection will be reviewed as well as rotary cutting. Project choices are a table runner, napkins, apron or envelope pillow. This class is suitable for those who may need a sewing machine refresher as well as experienced students.
INTRO TO THE HAND FORGED BLADE WORKSHOP SESSION B
Saturday-Sunday, May 6-7, 10:00am-5:00pm
This workshop will cover the basics of forging, grinding, heat treating and sharpening of a small utility knife. The instructor will discuss fit and finish, overall knife design, how to sharpen and care for knives, and how to make knives of your own. Expect to forge several blades over the weekend.
SILVER METAL CLAY II WORKSHOP
Saturday, May 6 10:00am-4:00pm
Learn techniques for forming and firing silver metal clay over supports for a more 3-dimensional look. Techniques demonstrated will include doming, stacking and draping; forming and attaching a pendant will also be demonstrated. Focus on dry finishing; flush stone setting optional.
“SPRING BLOSSOMS” KUMIHIMO NECKLACE WORKSHOP
2 Saturdays, May 6 & 13, 1:00-5:00pm
In anticipation of spring, create a Kumihimo necklace and embellish it with Czech glass flowers and seed bead “vines”. This is an advanced project, but no experience in Kumihimo is necessary.
COLOR THEORY FOR ARTISTS WORKSHOP
Saturdays, May 6, 10:00am-3:00pm
Whether you work in paint, fiber or clay, color can be confusing for an artist. In this class you will lean the basics and do simple practical exercises to learn how to create pleasing and harmonious color combinations, dynamic pairings and do it with confidence every time.
