Artwork by Students in the 2024 Summer Art Program for Kids
Guilford Art Center’s Summer Art Program for Kids is proud to present our very first online exhibition: Nurturing Creativity. This online exhibit showcases artwork from our ten-week program running from the 17th of June to the 23rd of August 2024.
Students ages 5-12 have spent the summer exploring new mediums, themes, and modes of expression with the support of our amazing teachers and teaching assistants. This exhibit highlights the diverse body of work produced by our communities’ emerging artists. Pieces range from ceramics and metalwork to multimedia drawing and painting. Here at GAC’s Summer Youth Program, there is truly something for everybody.
We invite viewers of this collection to immerse themselves in the whimsical nature of artwork produced by young minds. Each piece has been made with laughter, joy, and careful thought; all under the nurturing care and expertise of our teachers who continue to be inspired by their student’s creativity. Renee Soares, veteran instructor at our program, reflects on her years working with the youth in our community:
“My many years of teaching at the Guilford Art Center have brought me immense joy and inspiration. From the young artists that I encounter to the supportive staff and faculty, it is always a pleasure to share my creative gifts. As an instructor my task is to create an environment that ignites the flame within and opens a door to a world of curious wonder, imagination, and creativity. In return, I am gifted with the unexpected and much satisfaction.”
Our 2025 Summer Art Program for Kids catalog and registration will be available online this March. We hope to see you at the Guilford Art Center for another summer of nurturing creativity!
