Juried by Lenny Moskowitz, the colorful and eclectic show features more than 100 Connecticut artists working in all media including oils, watercolor, pastels, acrylics, sculpture, collage, mixed media, printmaking, and photography. The show is on view from September 13 – Saturday, October 2.
Several monetary prizes are awarded as part of this annual exhibit and presented at an Opening Reception. This year, First Prize ($600) went to Sandra Kensler for her mixed-media piece Cathedral Woods, Second Prize ($400) was awarded to Susan Nichols for her painting Garden I, and Third Prize went to Nikki Travaglino for her work Aqua Chrome. The Sculpture Prize went to Gail Friedland for Aristotle, and the Photography Prize was awarded to Charles Lagana for The Gathering. Additional winning artists include Helen Cantrell, Mike Eagle, Betsey Evarts, Liz Grace, Timothee Graze, William Meddick, Chris Penry, Len Swec, Aaron Tessler, Maya Vulinovic, and Marja Watson.
“I was somewhat introspective in choosing works for the show,” explains Moskowitz, a Connecticut landscape painter. “This may be due to the coronavirus pandemic, which may have made people look inward. But on the other hand, this situation may have also influenced the artists to be more colorful and even humorous. I believe the works I selected show hope for the future.”
