Jewelry From The Forge Workshop

Learn to make unique jewelry from forged steel. This class will teach you hand forging techniques to transform steel into rings, necklaces,cuffs that can be as delicate or “statement” as you want.
Lamp Worked Glass Beads Workshop

Students will learn to use a torch to melt glass rods, creating personalized colorful glass beads. Many glass decorating techniques will be demonstrated, including enamels, metal foils, flowers and more.
Silver Metal Clay Rings & More Workshop

Students will learn several ring forming techniques using fine silver metal clay. Use of slip syringe will be discussed, and students will learn how to flush-set synthetic stones for firing in metal clay. The making of cold-molds will be demonstrated and students will use them in ring making. This is a workshop for students with some experience working with metal clay. Students should be able to complete at least 2-3 rings. Materials fee* of approx. $130.00 includes sufficient metal clay, supplies and significant handouts to complete class projects, and is payable to the instructor at class. Prerequisite: at least one other metal clay class or workshop. Basic metal clay tools, including portable work-surface, are required and will not be provided. A small tool kit may be rented in class for $3.00. Upon sign up, students must give their ring size or a ring size they wish to work with. * Materials fee is subject to change with the metals market.
Stonesetting with Silver Metal Clay

Take your silver Metal Clay designs to the next level! Add color and brilliance to your pieces by learning to set natural and lab-grown stones in silver metal clay.
Learn which stones can be fired in the kiln, and how to flush-set stones to fire in metal clay. Learn the special considerations for bezel setting stones and pre-formed settings. Use of the slip-syringe for setting will be covered. Channel setting and prong setting will be included as time permits. Students should be able to complete and take home at least 2 pieces of their unique silver and colored stone jewelry.
Materials fee* of approx. $155. is payable at class. Materials fee includes sufficient metal clay lump and syringe, supplies and handouts to complete class projects. Inexpensive faceted and cabochon stones, pre-formed settings and additional metal clay will be available for purchase at the workshop.
Prerequisite: at least one other metal clay class or workshop.

Silver Metal Clay II Workshop

Students will take designing pendants to the next level and learn techniques for forming and firing silver metal clay over support material for a more 3 dimensional look. Techniques demonstrated will include doming, stacking and draping. Additional techniques for forming and attaching pendant bales will also be demonstrated and used in the making of a three dimensional pendant. Focus will also be on perfecting dry finishing the metal clay pendants before firing. Flush stone setting may be used and is optional. Depending on size and design, students will be able to finish and take home one or two unique silver pendants.
Prerequisite: at least one other metal clay class.

Intermediate Metalsmithing – Jewelry: Session A

Building on foundational metalsmithing skills developed in Jewelry I, this intermediate-level course emphasizes precision, design development, and expanded stone-setting techniques. Students will refine soldering, fabrication, and finishing methods while creating complex instructor-guided projects. Topics may include advanced fabrication, surfaces treatments, forming techniques, and a variety of stone setting techniques. This course may be repeated, as techniques and project focus will vary from session to session. Jewelry I or equivalent Intro experience required.
Intermediate Metalsmithing – Jewelry: Session B

Building on foundational metalsmithing skills developed in Jewelry I, this intermediate-level course emphasizes precision, design development, and expanded stone-setting techniques. Students will refine soldering, fabrication, and finishing methods while creating complex instructor-guided projects. Topics may include advanced fabrication, surfaces treatments, forming techniques, and a variety of stone setting techniques. This course may be repeated, as techniques and project focus will vary from session to session. Jewelry I or equivalent Intro experience required.
Intro to Metalsmithing – Jewelry: Session B

This introductory studio course provides a foundation in essential jewelry fabrication techniques. Students will learn to measure, saw, file, solder, form, and finish sheet metal and wire metal through guided projects and exercises. Projects may include spinner rings, stacker rings, single-stone ring, or pendant. Basic cabochon stone-setting methods will be introduced, along with an emphasis on design planning, craftsmanship, and safe studio practice. By the end of the course, students will complete several small wearable pieces that demonstrate confidence in basic metalsmithing skills. Beginner’s sampler kits are available for purchase from the instructor, and are subject to change with market prices.

Guided Independent Studies In Metals

This class is structured for students with metalworking experience to focus on their own interests. Students will select and design their own projects and receive guidance to execute them. Focus will be on enriching design skills and addressing artistic intent.
