Color, Color, and More Color! 8/3-7 Week 7

Drawing

This class focuses on exploring and learning about color while creating two dimensional work. Students will experiment with how color works across a variety of materials – sometimes using them on their own or combining them in creative ways. Projects will range from small to medium works, with at least one larger piece that brings everything together.

3-Dimensional Art 8/10-14 Week 8

Drawing

Students will create 3-dimensional projects using a variety of materials. We will be creating clay sculptures, building with wooden shapes, making paper mache creatures, experimenting with fibers, constructing buildings from cardboard – and more!

Art Station 6/29-7/2 Week 2

Decorative Arts

Draw, paint, and collage what you choose with the support of the teacher and classmates.  Air dry clay and textile materials will also be available. Learn how to enjoy your process and grow as an artist. Develop your skills, and maybe make a friend along the way.

Winter Fairy & Gnome Magic: Session B

Come explore a magical realm of fairy-inspired art! Students will create imaginative projects like enchanted clay luminaries, fairy treasure boxes, winter fairy houses, masks, felt creatures, and more. Join us for magical fun as we explore both real and imaginary worlds!

Learn to Paint a David Hockney Landscape

Painting Classes

David Hockney is masterful at capturing the essence of a scene. We’ll follow his process and break things down to big shapes, a simplified color palette and fabulous mark making to keep the drawings of Hockney’s surroundings feeling alive and joyful. We will try the same playful approaches in our own pages with guided exercises. Landscape painting can feel overwhelming – but with a few simple techniques, you can bring a touch of Hockney magic into your own artwork. This class has a required materials list.

Try Your Hand At Painting & Drawing Workshop: Session B

This workshop is geared towards the "absolute adult beginner" to come learn the basics of painting and drawing in a supportive, judgement-free session. Spend the morning in the GAC studios and learn about basic techniques, materials and approaches to working creatively in two dimensions. Come discover your creative potential.

February Vacation: Winter Imaginarium Session A

This is a new “open-ended style” winter art program. Students will have great flexiblity in creating their personal art projects, including 3 -D story dioramas, games, fairy houses, sculptures, cartoons, puppets or anything that you dream up. Guided by the teacher, children will have a chance to explore and use a wide range of art materials. We’ll have a short snack break, where we may explore the art gallery and outdoors.
Please bring a water bottle and snack.

In this class, children bring stories to life in 3D—creating scenes, costumes, and accessories from a favorite tale or their own original story. Using materials like fabric, buttons, ribbon, cardboard, and paint pens, kids will turn imagination into art and embark on an art adventure!
