Watercolor Techniques

This class will focus on core watercolor techniques, including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and dry brush. Students will learn fundamental watercolor principles such as working from light to dark, using the paper’s white for highlights, and building transparent layers to maintain luminosity. Instructor demonstrations will also cover color mixing, spattering, scraping, and other expressive techniques. This class has a material list.

Spring Vacation – Harry Potter in the Art Room: Session A

Spend one or more vacation days in the children’s art studio exploring the enchanted world of Hogwarts. Inspired by the adventures of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, students will create magical creatures, characters, and objects such as fantastical animals, potions, spellbooks, and wands using a variety of art materials.
Students will also enjoy a short outdoor break. Please bring a water bottle and a small snack.

Acrylic Painting

Do you have a bit of background in drawing and/or painting, but want to move beyond
your current level? This class will help. We’ll cover various approaches to developing
compositions, become more aware of tonal values and make color a friend. We’ll employ
a host of technical tips, as well as allow time for critiques
Spring Celebration of Crafts Around the World

This new class explores crafts from different corners of the world while celebrating the spirit of spring and themes of new growth and new beginnings. Students will create art inspired by global traditions, such as a New Zealand koru spiral necklace based on the unfurling fern frond. Projects may include a selection of international crafts like lantern making, printmaking, weaving, painting, clay work, and wax resist techniques, offering a hands-on introduction to art from a variety of cultures.
