Students will draw with graphite pencil, learning about line, dark and light values, composition and more. We will turn the ordinary into the sublime, working from a still life (and other things) of each student’s own design. Please bring a few soft pencils (6B to 9B) and a 9 x12 sketch pad to the first class. Please note: no class 05/25

Drawing Wild and Exotic Animals

Drawing Classes

Take a virtual drawing adventure to foreign lands where wild and exotic animals roam. Whether it’s fur or feathers, learn the tricks of how to draw a realistic wild animal in a variety of poses, including how to convey the expression in the eyes, the softness of fur or the lightness of the feathers using pencils. Instructor will provide photos and handouts. Student provided photos are acceptable but require instructor approval. Demonstrations, one-on-one attention and class critiques. This class has a required materials list.

Try Your Hand At Painting & Drawing Workshop: Session B

Bringing Stories To Life – Making Dioramas: Session B

Have you ever wanted to design your own mini theater or write a script? In this class, children bring stories to life in 3D—creating scenes, costumes, and accessories from a favorite tale or their own original story. Using materials like fabric, buttons, ribbon, cardboard, and paint pens, kids will turn imagination into art and embark on an art adventure!

Painting Or Drawing The Portrait

Become more confident as a portraitist and capture the personality of your subject in your art. Students already confident in a medium other than graphite pencil (e.g. oil, acrylic, pastels, etc.) should feel free to bring them to class. Otherwise, prepare to draw with pencil and bring a 9 x12 sketch pad, a few soft pencils (anything from 6B to 9B), and, preferably, a kneaded eraser.

Whether you’ve never taken a drawing class, or you just want to brush up on your current drawing skills, this is the class for you. Start drawing basic shapes using various grades of graphite pencils and apply shading techniques that will render proportion and form using still life setups. Understand and apply methods of linear perspective that create the illusion of depth and distance in landscapes. Employ knowledge gained to portray the human head and figure. This class has a required materials list.

Art & Literature Series: Art of Classic Fairytales

Create art inspired by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets! Follow Harry, Ron, and Hermione through their second year at Hogwarts while making characters, creatures, potions, spell books, and even the secret Chamber with its giant basilisk. Join us for enchanting fun!

3-Dimensional Art 8/10-14 Week 8

Students will create 3-dimensional projects using a variety of materials. We will be creating clay sculptures, building with wooden shapes, making paper mache creatures, experimenting with fibers, constructing buildings from cardboard – and more!
